The Navel
The
navel piercing has been a regular practice by the ancient
Egyptian Royalty.
This is also one of the most popular and
most common piercing performed by today's professional
piercer. The only downside to navel piercing is the long
healing times and people with an "outie" cannot
have this piercing performed. You must have a pronounced
"innie".
Proper placement is critical for proper
healing. It should be about 10mm above the upper edge
of the navel and the lower part of the ring seems to disappear
into the navel cavity. If not properly placed, the piercing
is prone to rejection and migration. Navel piercing becomes
infected easily because tight-fitting clothes do not allow
enough air to circulate, this allows moisture to collect
around the piercing.
