Gareth is at the Northumbria University in Newcastle, he is studying Photography and started his 3rd Year when he went back in September 2006 .
During the early part of the year, Gareth came and asked if he could do a project on us and the studio as part of his end-of-year presentation, which we were really happy to help out and be involved with. We managed to twist Gareth's arm (didn't take much doing!!!) to take the photos for us during the 2006 World Record Event as well, the majority of the pictures on the Record pages are his. He also took some traditional black/white photos of Kam which we sent into the Guiness with our Log Book. Gareth is going to get some more developed for us to put on show in the studio.
Charlie, Jo, and Abigail went to Gareth's presentation at the University in May. All of the students had different ways of presenting their projects - some were enlarged photos, some with write ups, some were all digital and on laptops, some were made into films, some put on slide shows etc. All of them were very good and showed lots of initiative and lots of time and effort put into them.
For Gareths Presentation, he had used the traditional Black/White photographs which he had taken of the studio and of the team while tattooing and piercing etc and of customers too. He also put some in of Kam and of the Record being done. Some of which were real in-depth photos and looked really good.
Gareth also had them bound into a really nice book which he had designed with a few bits of writing put in, which he had sat on a plinth with some headphones to be put on, which were contantly playing while you look through the book.
Gareth had put all the interviews which he had done with everybody in the studio on the recording and integrated loads of really cool tunes playing at the same time. The effect was great as you had a visual to look at but also a vocal which you could get the feel of what the studio, tattooing and piercing was all about. Job well done.
Gareth was a tattoo and piercing virgin before he came and spent time with us in the studio and now, well, we're having to slow him down getting things done!!!
He loves music and plays the Drums (he used to play in a rock band when he lived back home in Essex). We've introduced him to dance music which he's getting right into, which even he is surprised about as he's always been into the rock scene!
